2018 Canadian Snooker Championships – Toronto, ON | May 3 to 6

The Canadian Billiards & Snooker Association is pleased to announce that the 2018 CANADIAN OPEN SNOOKER CHAMPIONSHIPS will once again return to The Corner Bank in Toronto, Ontario hosted from May 3-6th, 2018.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

  • Single Elimination
  • Consolation Bracket for First-Round Losers (optional)
  • Maximum: 64 Players
  • TOURNAMENT MATCH FORMATS:
    • Rounds 1-3: Best of 7 Frames
    • Quarterfinals: Best of 9 Frames
    • Semifinals: Best of 11 Frames
    • FINAL: Best of 13 Frames
  • CONSOLATION BRACKET MATCH FORMATS:
    • Best of 5 Frames
    • Semifinals & FINAL: Best of 7 Frames

A player’s meeting will be held at 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 2nd – Play begins at 9:00 AM on Thursday, May 3rd 

 


REGISTRATION & ENTRY FEE

ENTRY FEE: $250

PROVINCIAL AFFILIATION FEE: $25

All entries are subject to the approval of your respective provincial association. Contact your provincial representative to determine qualification requirements in your province. Each entry fee is accompanied by a $25 provincial association membership fee.

Once collected, entry fees will be subject to the discretion of your resident provincial association and CBSA. Once an entry has been approved and payment has been received, the registered player will be entered into the draw and the fee will be non-refundable.

SPOT ALLOCATIONS

There are 64 spots available in the draw for the 2018 Canadian Snooker Championships – each province is allocated a certain number of spots, as indicated in the table below:

In the event that a province is unable to fill all spots allocated to them by April 15th, those unfilled spots will be made available to any eligible players in Canada, subject to the discretion of the CBSA.

DRESS CODE

  • Long-sleeved dress shirt, suit trousers and dress shoes.
  • Waistcoat and/or cummerbund with tie/bowtie.
  • No hats/headwear of any kind.

Requests for exemption to the dress code must be presented to the tournament director in advance of any match play.


PRIZE MONEY & INTERNATIONAL INVITATIONS

The prize pool for the Open Snooker championships is comprised of 100% of the ENTRY FEES submitted and will include

$2,000 expenses for the winner to represent Canada at either the 2018 IBSF World Snooker Championships (more info to be announced at ibsf.info), the 2019 WSF World Snooker Championships or the 2018 Pan American Championship.

Additional details surrounding these upcoming international events will be released as soon as they are available.


SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP

The seniors division of the Canadian Snooker Championship wiill be held on the preceding weekend, April 27 to 29.
